but i'm happy for her and jacob
that'll be so weird tho, cuz renesmee and bella will be like the same ages, do you think they'll still be mother-daughterly or more like sisters? or friends??? huh... vampire relationships are so weird sometiems

They'll probably still very Mother-Daughter. I mean look at it this way, eventhough they are technically "adopted" all the Cullen "children" are only a couple of years younger than Carlisle (who if I remember correctly is supposedly 23), and yet Carlisle's relationship with them (especially Edward) is and has always been very fatherly. I think that with the vampires, once they know which role they want, they assume that role regardless of "how old" they are. (By how old I mean, the age they will always be). I hope that made sense?

It's just like the whole Nessie and Jacob thing. If by the time she is mature, Nessie decides that she wants Jacob as her mate now, technically Jacob will be about 23 years old (if he was still going by his human aging) and Nessie will only technically be 7, but obviously that's not going to stop them, because besides Nessie's time alive (7 years), everything about her will be adult. I kinda feel bad for Jacob though..Nessie will be wicked smart by then if she keeps intellectualy growing the way she has.

My only thing though is that like many of you, Edward to me felt very distanced in this book, starting from the moment he called Carlisle after they realized Bella was pregnant and they were planning to abort the child. I like the theory that people give about Edward's lack of father image (the one about feeling slight rivalry with JAcob when it comes to Nessie), but at the same time I dunno. To me it felt like, he always felt it was his fault he caused so much pain to Bella during her last days as a human, and not just physical pain. I like to think that deep down he always resented having almost forced Bella to give up their child and that from that moment he had a hard time connecting to Nessie. Once he realized he could read the baby's thoughts while she was still in the womb, and he finally allowed himself to be just as in love with her as Bella was, he slowly started to redeem himself.

However cute the father-daughter moments were though, it didn't feel like enough and I could never feel that emotional connection between them. I can tell SM really tried to transgress that and, maybe because she is a mother herself it's easier to express Bella's feelings than it is to express Edward's, but alot of times the "sweet" moments between Renesmee and Edward felt kinda forced to me. I know Edward came to love Renesmee very deeply and cared for her, but he mostly felt dettached to me. I am willing to think that this was mostly the case because at first he was letting Bella bond with the baby after the time she missed while transforming, but that went on a little long. I don't know, I had a really hard time categorizing Edward as a dad.

And finally (I promise I am ending my essay soon lol), Bella as a vampire. I almost wished he could've stayed a human and somehow survive that birth. She was not Bella to me anymore when she became a vampire. I mean, she must've always been somewhat beautiful but it was like, as soon as she turned into a vampire she finally saw her beauty for what it "was", but to me it felt like she had just had extensive plastic surgery. And her personality, like when she goes to see J Jenks? It was like she was a completley different person. It wasn't the first time she had ever flirted and stuff to get what she wants but it seemed almost...arrogant. Not like your typical teenage insecurites like in Twilight. Obviously she did alot of growing since the first book, but even then it was like. Right before the birth she was still 18-year old Bella Swan and after her transformation it was like she aged nine years and had become some weird supermodel. Not the Bella we were used to at all. The difference was a little too drastic and...ehh...it was weird. I understood the transition from being a teen to motherhood and obviously being a vampire gave her alot of new things, but her personality changed in a very eerie way. Not natural.
